London Weekend | Embracing the Extravagance of a Rainy Day

London in February is predictably unpredictable, making it the perfect time to steal a bit of spring in a greenhouse. 🌧️ 📍 Kew Garden Orchid Festival is in full bloom, with the entire greenhouse layered with vibrant flowers, creating a visual feast of maximalist splendor. The exotic orchids intertwine in growth, and the damp air of a rainy day is mingled with the earthy scent of plants, offering a light yet luxurious feel. 🌺 🌿 Souvenir Shop The Kew Garden souvenir shop is a gem! The hand cream has a lovely texture, reminiscent of L’Occitane. There’s a wide range of fragrances to choose from, mostly botanical, ranging from sweet to food and sandalwood scents. I picked up a grapefruit-scented hand cream that smells amazing! 🌸 Plus, there are so many beautiful fridge magnets that it’s hard to choose just one. 🎁 🌀 Architectural Highlight: The HIVE Besides the flower show, there are many architectural wonders to explore in the garden, like The Hive – a futuristic beehive-like installation. Stepping inside, you’ll hear the resonant sound of bees’ wings, which is quite magical. If you appreciate architecture and art installations, it’s definitely worth taking the time to experience it. 🐝 📌 Visit Tips • Booking time: I booked a 3 PM slot and had to queue for a bit. It’s best to arrive a few minutes early. • Weather: It’s quite chilly in London recently. The greenhouse is warm, but do dress warmly for exploring the rest of the garden. • IC students get a discount at the souvenir shop! Other schools don’t seem to have the same privilege; looks like KCL has some catching up to do. 🎓 #London #LondonWeekend #UKWeekend #WeekendExhibitions #kcl #ic #ImperialCollege
