Los Angeles|Gwen 🌟 Aussie Butcher & Steakhouse Vibes 🥩
Though LA is a world away from Australia, Gwen—LA’s only Michelin-starred steakhouse (and one of just four 🌟 steakhouses in the US)—feels deeply Australian in its roots, style, and flavors. 🇦🇺✨ I found it super interesting, especially since I’d tried some famous Aussie steakhouses earlier in December—perfect for a fun comparison! Gwen is easy to book (seats available even 1–2 days ahead!), so I snagged a solo spot at the Chef’s Table—same menu, immersive experience. 🍷 Moulis 2020 – Decent with steak, but nothing special. Their wine list offers fair value, though cheap by-the-glass options are limited… so I sipped lightly. 🍄 Amuse-bouche – Mushroom bite, house-made bread, and chicken liver mousse—tasty start! 🥩 10oz Dry-Aged Flat Iron – Really delicious! Their sauces are standout. Many seem to order the 16oz NY Strip too. 🥔 Classic Aussie Steak Side – Tasty, but a bit dry when paired with leaner cuts. Still enjoyable! 🍮 Chocolate Sorbet + Chocolate – Too sweet for my taste… not very Aussie-style. 🚗 Valet parking in the back is safe and attended. Tip: Pay the lot attendant directly (15) instead of the restaurant (17) to save a few bucks! 💰 Around $200 per person (double the price compared to Australia, but hey—it’s Michelin 🌟).
