Los Angeles|Pasadena Japanese Spot — Kabuki Check‑in 🤔

Kabuki Japanese Restaurant 🍣 Decided to casually try a Japanese spot in Pasadena — decent value overall. After looking around, I realized Pasadena doesn’t have tons of authentic Asian food — a lot of it leans Americanized. 🥗 House Salad Light and refreshing — good to balance out the meal since many signature items here are fried. 🍣 Kabuki Roll A spicy crispy roll with tuna, salmon, yellowtail, spicy albacore, spicy tuna, smelt egg, salmon egg, and crab. Pretty okay, but the smelt egg texture wasn’t great — might be better to just order the sushi you actually crave. 🐟 Sashimi Omakase Deluxe (small) Good value for fresh, non‑fishy sashimi — though the fish roe was underwhelming. 🫑 Lava Roll Topped with fried jalapeño — crispy and crunchy! Inside: salmon, spicy tuna, crab, avocado, cream cheese, and spicy mayo. Wrapping it all in one bite is super satisfying. The outer nori layer is also fried. 🍤 Combination: Pork Cutlet + Shrimp & Veggie Tempura Solid value — comes with salad, rice, and miso soup. Sauces are pretty American‑style (nothing special), but this works well as a solo meal. The pork cutlet had plenty of meat, and everything tasted fine overall. Final take: Pretty good value — for affordable Japanese, the flavor holds up. If you’re in Pasadena and not sure what to eat, this is a reliable casual option. 📍 Address: 88 W Colorado Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91105, United States #JapaneseFood #Tempura #California #CaliforniaFood #LosAngeles #Pasadena #PasadenaFood
