Los Angeles | Hidden Gem in Temecula: Corbeaux Wine and Tea House ๐
๐ Corbeaux Wine and Tea House Spending too much time on the road in Los Angeles can always be forgiven by great food! Corbeaux launched its prix fixe menu in March to test the market. I visited in April and tried their second new menu, and I was already ready to rave about it! The current prices are incredibly charming: - 4-course prix fixe ($99/person) - Wine pairing ($45/person for 4 wines) - Tea pairing ($35/person for 4 teas) The dishes are easy to understand, and the wine pairing logic is on point. The menu follows the structure of French cuisine but skillfully incorporates Southeast Asian ingredients and spices like kumquats, basil, coconut, and curry, presenting a full-bodied, soft, and subtle flavor profile that appeals to Asian palates. Many of the wines are from the family's own vineyard, managed by the owner's 26-year-old daughter, who is currently the youngest winemaker on the West Coast. The attention to detail extends to the tableware, down to the water glasses, ensuring a soft, clear ambiance whether you're at the bar counter or dinner table. ๐พ Welcome Drink: Brut Rose sparkling wine, 100% Pinot Noir from Sonoma, with notes of strawberry and brioche toast. [1st Course] ๐ฝ๏ธ Yellowtail Hamachi: Generous portions of fish, with a touch of acidity from ponzu and a few drops of kumquat oil. ๐ท Wine Pairing: "Nude" from the family vineyard, 90% Grenache + 10% Sauvignon Blanc. The rich, fruity aroma of Grenache, with notes of strawberry and raspberry, perfectly complements the fresh Southeast Asian flavors, ensuring a delightful evening. [2nd Course] ๐ฝ๏ธ Black Cod with Blood Orange Sauce and Curry: The curry broth is perfectly balanced, enhancing the tenderness of the fish without overpowering it or adding greasiness. ๐ท Wine Pairing: Chardonnay, with oaky and buttery notes that enhance the black cod. [3rd Course] ๐ฝ๏ธ Filet Mignon with Raspberry Coffee Sauce, topped with dried egg yolk. ๐ท Wine Pairing: 44% Cabernet Sauvignon (from Napa Oakville) + 56% Old Vine Merlot. ๐ฐ Dessert: Jasmine-scented Napoleon and cigar chocolateโboth were absolutely delicious! For $99, you get a complete, rich, uniquely presented, and thoughtfully seasoned dinner that truly exceeds expectations. If this were in downtown LA, you wouldn't expect such a price! #LosAngelesFoodie
