Los Angeles | The Michelin-Recommended Roast Duck Loved by BTS!
Been bookmarked for ages — heard it’s the go-to spot for a certain J-starting, K-ending K-pop superstar whenever he’s in town! Our kids blindly guessed Jungkook 😂 Regardless, with a Michelin recommendation, it was definitely worth trying! Since the roast duck takes about 4 hours to prepare, it’s best to reserve in advance. We called a day ahead to book our table and the duck!😂❤️ The duck is roasted using a method similar to beggar’s chicken — the duck itself isn’t marinated, but it’s stuffed with a fragrant mix of purple rice, assorted grains, pine nuts, pumpkin seeds, raisins, black dates, walnuts, and more. This gives the meat a subtle, natural sweetness from the grains. The skin is beautifully crisp in parts , while the meat stays tender and almost falls off the bone. I loved it plain — so naturally sweet and savory — while the kids enjoyed it with the house-made dipping sauce. That melt-in-your-mouth, pure-duck goodness is absolutely unforgettable! For the rice, we recommend pairing it with kimchi stew — it disappeared in minutes! By the way, their kimchi stew is made with fresh kimchi, so it’s not sour, just light and delicious 👍. Another highlight: the sweet potato served with the duck. Koreans really know how to roast sweet potato — soft, sticky, and super sweet! The only downside is there wasn’t enough… but the kind ajumma noticed and gave us two extra slices 🥰. I’ve heard their duck BBQ is amazing too, but the roast duck was already plenty. To avoid waste, we’ll have to come back next week to report on that! 😆 The Korean staff here are incredibly warm and friendly — especially toward kids. When we accidentally left something behind, one of the aunties even ran out to return it. So much love, just like in a K-drama! 💕 📍 Dha Rae Oak 1106 S Western Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90006 🚗 Parking: Same lot as De Mama — not the underground parking next door. #DailyLife #LosAngeles #LAEats #BTS #Michelin #RoastDuck #LAFoodFinds #WeekendEats
