Los Angeles | Three Must‑Try Hidden Gem Japanese Spots in the SGV 🍣

While LA’s most authentic Japanese food is often found in Little Tokyo, Sawtelle, or Torrance, our inland empire also has some fantastic options! Here are three treasure‑tier Japanese restaurants in LA’s eastern suburbs that I’ve revisited again and again — great quality, and the gas money you save can go toward extra sashimi! 😉 🍣 OoToro Sushi Japanese Restaurant 📍 1569 Fairway Dr, Walnut, CA 91789 This might be the best ingredient quality in the SGV — upscale and pricier (they also have an Irvine location). Dinner à la carte is delicious but runs ~$100 per person. Pro tip: Go for LUNCH COMBO! Sashimi bowls, sushi sets, etc. — same premium ingredients as dinner, but just $19‑21 per set! Insane value — thick‑cut sashimi, super fresh, filling. Also great: karaage, uni pasta. 🍣 Man Sun Japanese 📍 21190 Golden Springs Dr, Walnut, CA 91789 A Korean‑run Japanese spot with a cozy vibe and excellent food. Signature dish: Seasoned whole uni rice bowl — their seasoning is outstanding. Go for the largest size (~$30+) — huge portions, bigger than most K‑town versions. Also recommend their $99 two‑person set — includes banchan, grilled items, a massive sashimi platter — guaranteed stuffed! Dinner boxes are also great value (~$13). They even have over‑the‑top sushi boats for groups. 🍣 Akasaka Restaurant 📍 14926 Clark Ave, Hacienda Heights, CA 91745 Years ago, this place became famous for its over‑the‑top, affordable chirashi bowls. After ownership changed, some say quality dipped, but my recent visit was still solid. The $45 assorted sashimi bowl is loaded — overflowing with variety and volume, enough for two to share. While not high‑end omakase level, it’s fresh and satisfying for the price — a feast for the eyes and stomach! #LAJapaneseFood #SGVFood #HiddenGems #SashimiBowl #UniLover #LAEats 🍱🎌
