🌟 Los Angeles — Mélisse, Beautiful & Delicious Two Michelin Stars 🌟
Revisited two-star Mélisse for another birthday pretty meal 🤩. Last time was the summer menu — this time it’s the winter ingredients menu, even richer in variety. Their presentation is absolutely stunning — no complaints there. The flavor profile is totally my style. Ambiance: cozy space with limited seating — comfortable and intimate. In Southern California, this remains one of the standout Michelin fusion spots 🍽️, maintaining its two-star excellence year after year. Tonight’s menu was a total delight — super delicious 😋. Finger appetizers: Loved the oyster shooter 🦪 and A5 Wagyu tartlet 🥩 most. Three-part amuse-bouche was fantastic — the rosemary Jerusalem artichoke soup 🥣 was velvety and rich. Kelp squid noodles with clams were refreshing and sweet. Aji crudo with green plum sauce — sweet, tangy, fresh. Two types of uni toast 🍞 — Santa Barbara & Hokkaido — one sweet, one savory, exploding in the mouth 💥. Lobster + caviar chawanmushi 🦞 — silky egg custard with bouncy lobster, luxurious with caviar. Scallop 🐚 with green apple 🍏 — perfectly cooked, tender, with a bright acidic touch. Halibut + crab 🎣🦀 in scallop broth — umami overload. Morel mushrooms stuffed with meat filling — so good 😋. First red meat course: Veal 🐮 — incredibly tender with black truffle sauce, plus sweetbreads — superb. Main event: 11-day dry-aged duck 🦆 — crispy skin, tender meat, rich sauce balanced with berry compote. The duck char siu bao was unreal — duck inside was magical 😍 (my favorite of the night!). Desserts were love at first bite: 🍫 Triple chocolate treat for this chocolate lover. 🍨 Passionfruit sago with ice cream — refreshing and bright 😌. Petits fours were lovely — especially the cherimoya (custard apple)! Ended with a birthday cake 🎂 — a beautiful, delicious finish. Overall — super satisfying, generous portions, left stuffed.
