Revisited two-star Mรฉlisse for another birthday pretty meal ๐Ÿคฉ. Last time was the summer menu โ€” this time itโ€™s the winter ingredients menu, even richer in variety. Their presentation is absolutely stunning โ€” no complaints there. The flavor profile is totally my style. Ambiance: cozy space with limited seating โ€” comfortable and intimate. In Southern California, this remains one of the standout Michelin fusion spots ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ, maintaining its two-star excellence year after year. Tonightโ€™s menu was a total delight โ€” super delicious ๐Ÿ˜‹. Finger appetizers: Loved the oyster shooter ๐Ÿฆช and A5 Wagyu tartlet ๐Ÿฅฉ most. Three-part amuse-bouche was fantastic โ€” the rosemary Jerusalem artichoke soup ๐Ÿฅฃ was velvety and rich. Kelp squid noodles with clams were refreshing and sweet. Aji crudo with green plum sauce โ€” sweet, tangy, fresh. Two types of uni toast ๐Ÿž โ€” Santa Barbara & Hokkaido โ€” one sweet, one savory, exploding in the mouth ๐Ÿ’ฅ. Lobster + caviar chawanmushi ๐Ÿฆž โ€” silky egg custard with bouncy lobster, luxurious with caviar. Scallop ๐Ÿš with green apple ๐Ÿ โ€” perfectly cooked, tender, with a bright acidic touch. Halibut + crab ๐ŸŽฃ๐Ÿฆ€ in scallop broth โ€” umami overload. Morel mushrooms stuffed with meat filling โ€” so good ๐Ÿ˜‹. First red meat course: Veal ๐Ÿฎ โ€” incredibly tender with black truffle sauce, plus sweetbreads โ€” superb. Main event: 11-day dry-aged duck ๐Ÿฆ† โ€” crispy skin, tender meat, rich sauce balanced with berry compote. The duck char siu bao was unreal โ€” duck inside was magical ๐Ÿ˜ (my favorite of the night!). Desserts were love at first bite: ๐Ÿซ Triple chocolate treat for this chocolate lover. ๐Ÿจ Passionfruit sago with ice cream โ€” refreshing and bright ๐Ÿ˜Œ. Petits fours were lovely โ€” especially the cherimoya (custard apple)! Ended with a birthday cake ๐ŸŽ‚ โ€” a beautiful, delicious finish.
