Los Angeles | Checking Out Kabuki Japanese Restaurant in Pasadena 🤔
Kabuki Japanese Restaurant 🍣 Decided to randomly stop by this Japanese spot in Pasadena for a quick meal—the value is pretty decent! After looking around, I realized Pasadena doesn’t have too many amazing Asian food options… most places feel pretty Americanized. House Salad 🥗 The salad was light and refreshing—good to balance out the meal since a lot of their signature dishes are fried. Would recommend ordering one! Kabuki Roll 🍣 A spicy crunchy roll with tuna, salmon, yellowtail, spicy albacore, spicy tuna, smelt egg, salmon egg, and krab. It was okay overall, but the smelt egg texture wasn’t great. Might be better to just order the sushi you really feel like eating. Sashimi Omakase Deluxe 🐟 Went for the small portion—decent value and the sashimi wasn’t fishy at all. Only downside was the fish roe, which wasn’t great. Lava Roll 🫑 Topped with fried jalapeño—super crispy! Inside: salmon, spicy tuna, crab, avocado, cream cheese, and spicy mayo. Really satisfying to take a big bite! The outer layer of the roll is also wrapped in fried seaweed. Combination — Pork Cutlet + Shrimp & Vegetable Tempura 🍤 Good value tonkatsu and tempura set, served with salad, rice, and miso soup. The sauce was pretty basic American-style, but it’s a solid choice for a solo meal. The pork cutlet had a generous amount of meat! Overall, the price-to-quality ratio is pretty fair. For affordable Japanese food, the flavor holds up. If you’re not sure what to eat and just want something easy, this place works 👍 Address: 88 W Colorado Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91105, United States Have you been to Kabuki?
