Los Angeles | Addison ❤️

Sometimes You Have to Experience a Michelin Three-Star Disappointment Yourself... 😅 Before Providence and Somni earned their third stars this year, Addison had long held the title of Southern California’s only three-Michelin-star restaurant. I’d heard mixed reviews but decided to see for myself. Even with managed expectations, it was still a letdown. In today’s terms—it felt totally unbalanced. 🌀 The menu tries to fuse French, Japanese, and Chinese influences, but many flavors and ingredients clashed instead of harmonizing. 🐟 The grilled horse mackerel was underwhelming. 🔥 The scaled fish was poorly executed—the scales weren’t crispy, and the cooking was off. 🥚 The quail egg flower soup was way too salty. 🍅 The most confusing dish: tomato, sour plum, spicy tuna, and caviar—sounded intriguing but tasted chaotic. The one standout was the caviar and Koshihikari rice—sweet, chewy, and crispy all at once. 🍚✨ But the add-ons were shockingly priced: 265 for three scoops of caviar, 195 for Wagyu. Compared to Providence’s reasonably priced supplements, this felt excessive. 💸 The hotel and restaurant felt dated—neither particularly elegant nor charmingly “old money.” But service was excellent: complimentary car service, EV charging, and staff were warm and engaging. 🚗💬 The sommelier was especially talkative and even brought us two off-menu wines. While the food didn’t impress, a bottle of Mortet Clos de Vougeot saved the evening—open, aromatic, delicate, and lingering. 🍷 More shock than delight—probably won’t return.
