Los Angeles Food Diary | GE BANG SIK DANG Korean Michelin Soy
Saw a post on Instagram today and immediately rushed to Koreatown to try this spot β known for holding a Michelin recommendation in Korea for 5 consecutive years! The side dishes were pretty decent: kimchi was tasty, and the kimchi pancake was good too. But the seaweed sheets for wrapping rice were bitter and too thin. π The soy-marinated crab came with just one crab, but the shell showed how fresh it was. You can ask for it without spicy sauce β which is served separately in a small dish. The crab flavor was mild, more savory than sweet, with a nice balance of garlic and soy sauce. Since we were already there, we also ordered soy-marinated salmon and shrimpβ¦ but honestly, they werenβt good β donβt order them! π« The salmon had a strong sesame oil taste that overpowered its freshness, and the oiliness made it feel heavy. The shrimp was bland and ordinary β honestly, H Mart does it better. The server announced each dish as it arrived, which felt a bit unnecessary β I mean, we already knew it was mostly kimchi variations, right? π The crab roe seaweed soup served with rice was nice, though. π Overall, worth a visit for the experience, but probably not a repeat for me. The value isnβt great, and it was justβ¦ okay. π Address: 3121 W Olympic Blvd, Ste 103, Los Angeles, CA 90006 By the way, heading to MUMU for some taiyaki after this meal was a much better choice β their fish-shaped pastries are way more reliable! ππ§ #LosAngelesEats #LAFoodie #KoreatownLA #MichelinEats #SoyMarinatedCrab #KoreanFoodLA
