Los Angeles Indonesian Food | Medan Kitchen 🍛

This is our third time here—we absolutely adore this place! ❤️ Today’s order felt like enjoying Chinese food in an Indonesian restaurant in LA. So interesting and delicious! 😋 【Chai Kue】$7 My friend from Fujian said this brought her right back to her hometown. The filling is made with shredded white radish and pepper—simple but full of umami flavor. The outer wrapper is soft and tender, not as chewy as har gow, and really resembles the style of Teochew or Fujian-style "guo." Did some digging and found out this is indeed a traditional snack that made its way overseas, even the name is a transliteration! 🤯 It comes with sweet chili sauce for dipping, which adds a nice kick, but it’s delicious on its own too. 【Martabak Telur】$12 This stuffed pancake truly teleported me back to Asia! 🇮🇩✈️ I usually don’t love scallions, but the pork and scallion filling here moved me almost to tears 🥹. There seemed to be scrambled egg mixed in too—it’s a super Chinese-friendly flavor, and I bet my mom would love it! 【Bakso Malang】$13 The bowl includes eight bouncy pork meatballs, two tofu pouches stuffed with meat, and several pieces of beef brisket. The pork balls have that perfect springy texture, and the noodles are thin—like the kind used in Cantonese stir-fried rice noodles. The crispy bits stayed surprisingly crisp even submerged in the broth! 🍜 The soup itself is light and not overly salty, so you won’t feel thirsty after. 【Gado-Gado】 A must-order every time! We missed it last visit, but it’s back on our table this time. Creamy peanut sauce over fresh, crisp veggies—so satisfying! 🥒🥜 【Nasi Baker】$17 Similar to the banana leaf baked rice we had last time, but this version comes with chicken leg instead of beef tendon. Perfect when you’re super hungry—carb-heavy and full of bold flavor! 🍚🔥 Every time we come, there’s something new and exciting to try. This place never gets old—we’ll definitely be back! 👋🍽️ #LosAngeles #LAFood #IndonesianFood #Foodie #AsianCuisine #LAEats #IndonesianCuisine #HiddenGemLA #MedanKitchen #ComfortFood #Noodles #StreetFood
