Los Angeles Michelin Star Experience | Kali 🌟
Came to LA looking for great food—wasn’t specifically chasing Michelin stars, but decided to check this place out based on a friend’s recommendation! 😊 Took my friend’s advice and skipped the tasting menu. Instead, we ordered à la carte: 🍹 Drinks Best Day Ever + Hot Apple Cider The hot apple cider is highly recommended! ~ It has a lovely cinnamon aroma, warms you up, and really whets the appetite! ❤️🔥 🍽️ Appetizers Beef Tartare “Cigar” Crowded Beach We got lucky today—the waiter accidentally put in two orders of the beef tartare! 😂 This dish is a must-try: the flavor is incredible, with a subtle "smoky" aftertaste. The beef is tender and slightly tangy. ~ As for the Crowded Beach, my favorite part was the oyster mushroom (bottom right). The rest were just okay. The two little shells were cute, so I kept them as souvenirs! 🐚 🐟 First Course Yellowtail Crudo It was just alright—the fish was fresh, but the sauce was a bit confusing. 🫤 🍝 Second Course Sea Urchin Pasta Local Vermillion Rock Cod We ordered the large portion of pasta, but it wasn’t very big. Only 3 pieces of uni, and the pasta was a bit too al dente. Not the best value. The "floating cheese" didn’t add much flavor. The cod, however, was super tender with a tangy sauce—highly recommended! 👍🏻 🍨 Dessert Meringue Gelato Mont Blanc The restaurant knew it was our anniversary, so they gave us two complimentary gelatos! So sweet of them—definitely deserved a little extra tip, right? 😉 The gelato looked simple at first, but then they grated egg yolk flakes over it tableside—a unique sweet and savory combo! The Mont Blanc had a complex texture, but it was just okay for me. ~ 📍 Address: 5722 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90038 Have you been to Kali?
