Los Angeles Pottery Experience | Easy for Beginners ๐ŸŒŸ

A few weeks ago, for my friend's birthday, we decided to try out pottery together. We chose ARTime Barro, the one in Santa Monica. Each class lasts for an hour and is limited to a maximum of five people. The small-group setting makes the experience super relaxed and cozy. There's a teacher guiding you through the entire process, making it perfect for absolute beginners. ๐ŸŒฟ ๐Ÿงฑ **Class Content**: Each person can complete two pieces (one is hand-built pottery and the other is wheel-thrown pottery). For the hand-building part, the teacher will show you step by step how to knead the clay and shape it. The clay is pre-prepared and is just the right amount to make a small cup or bowl. If you want to make a vase, you might find the clay a bit insufficient. The pottery wheel is an automatic turntable. You can adjust the height and diameter of the clay piece with your hands, like pulling it up, pressing it down, widening the mouth, or narrowing it. This process is incredibly therapeutic and perfect for clearing your mind. ๐Ÿ˜Œ ๐ŸŒธ **After Shaping Your Pieces**: You'll be provided with carving tools and embossing molds to add decorations. I made two small bowlsโ€”one shaped like a pig and the other with a wide mouth. I can't wait to see what they look like after firing! ๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ **Post-Class Choices**: You can choose how to glaze your pieces: - Do it yourself: More color options and more freedom. - Have the shop do it for you: More convenient and hassle-free. Once your pieces are fired, the shop will notify you, and you can schedule a time to come back and glaze them. ๐Ÿ“Œ **Quick Tips**: - Wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty, as your hands will definitely get muddy. - Short nails are more convenient, but long nails are fine tooโ€”the teacher will provide sponges to help. - If you have long hair, tie it up; it makes the process much easier. Overall, the experience was fantastic. It was easy to get started, and I felt a huge sense of accomplishment. I'd love to come back and make an incense holder next time! ๐ŸŒŸ ๐Ÿ“ **ARTime Barro** 302 Pico Blvd, Santa Monica, CA 90405 #LosAngeles #PotteryExperience #ClayFun #HandmadeCeramics #PotteryDIY #WeekendAdventures #LosAngelesLife
