Los Angeles Thai Food Heaven|Raw Seafood Delight🍤

Restaurant: Lacha Somtum Address: 5171 Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90027, United States 🇹🇭 My Thai roommate’s younger brother brought us to this hidden gem! We ordered the naked shrimp – Thai-style raw marinated shrimp 🦐. Though they’re not jumping around like drunken shrimp, the freshness is unbeatable! So springy and bouncy, served with lemongrass, mint leaves, and Thai chili sauce – super flavorful! 🌿 Holy basil leaves and fresh chili, also known as Pad Kra Pao 🐖. The fish sauce is incredibly fresh – probably homemade – mixed with chopped Thai chilies and minced pork. So addictive, my Thai roommate devoured several bowls of rice with it! 😋 Papaya salad with blue crab – Their green papaya salad is dark-colored because it’s soaked in fish sauce. We went for maximum spiciness 🌶️. At first, it didn’t seem too bad, but after a minute, the heat hit hard! Still, it’s seriously satisfying with sticky rice – highly recommend! The salad also includes raw blue crab, which has a jelly-like texture you can slurp right up. So fresh, it rivals Korean ganjang gejang! 😭 🇹🇭 My roommate insisted on the fish and anchovy curry – you can really taste the distinct umami of the anchovies. Packed with ingredients like bamboo shoots, green beans, and eggplant. Eat it with Thai dried rice noodles – a true comfort dish! 🍛 If you can’t handle spice, be careful – this might be the spiciest Thai food I’ve had in North America! 🥵 I recommend ordering a mudslide to cool down – basically iced Ovaltine with cream. So refreshing! 🥤 Have you tried Lacha Somtum? How well do you handle spice?
