Los Angeles Yakitori - TABERU 🏮

There are many amazing restaurants near Little Tokyo in LA. Since my friend and I happened to finish work around the same time today, and I had Fastrak to skip traffic from the SGV to DTLA, we chose this yakitori spot! 🚗💨 Overall, the food was decent and reliable—exactly what you'd expect from a Japanese chain restaurant. Very professional in flavor, decor, menu, and staff training. But it lacked a bit of that "lively, rustic atmosphere" you often feel at smaller, family-run Japanese joints. My friend is Cantonese and said the food tasted pretty light, almost like Cantonese cuisine. The beef stew with radish… honestly, I suspect it might actually be a Cantonese dish 😅 (Not recommended!) My personal favorite was the fried tofu—the broth was made with kombu, very fresh and savory. It uses natural ingredients instead of MSG, which I really appreciated. 👍 (Though my Cantonese friend said he couldn’t really taste the difference lol) The fried chicken came with a special sauce made from egg yolk and other seasonings—different from any other version I’ve tried, uniquely tasty! 🍗 We also ordered the fresh fish salad—very fresh and light. The dressing felt house-made, not too creamy, and lower in calories 🥗 The specialty drinks were just okay for me. My friend’s mango-based cocktail had real mango chunks, but I barely tasted any alcohol 🥭🍸 Later, I tried their Valentine’s special: strawberry + coconut + vodka—pretty nice, not too strong, just a light buzz~ 💖 But the REAL star was their tiramisu! 🍰 The cream was rich and smooth—like eating a sweet, fluffy cloud. Honestly, one of my favorites in all of LA! Some Italian places make it too boozy, or the coffee layer is too strong, or the biscuit base isn’t delicate enough… but here, it’s just perfect ❤️ #Yakitori #JapaneseIzakaya #JapaneseFood #HiddenGem #VibesDining #LAFood #LAExplored
