Louisville, Kentucky Travel Guide 1.0 🐎✨

(Split into two parts due to word limit) Louisville is the largest city in Kentucky. While the state is known as the birthplace of KFC 🍗, it’s even more famous for hosting the largest Derby horse race in the U.S. 🏇 This is why Kentucky is often called the “Home of Horse Racing.” 1️⃣ Churchill Downs 2️⃣ Kentucky Derby Museum These two attractions are located together — the museum is inside the Churchill Downs racetrack. A must-visit spot in Louisville! 🎯 The racetrack opened in 1875 and hosted the very first Kentucky Derby. That was 148 years ago! 📅 According to our guide, the U.S. Derby horse racing triple crown begins right here in Louisville. The second leg takes place five weeks later in Maryland, and the final one in New York. Only three-year-old horses are allowed to compete, and out of 40,000 horses, only 16–18 make it to the Kentucky Derby. ⚠️ Hours: Mon–Sat: 8 AM–5 PM Sun: 11 AM–5 PM ⚠️ Parking: Free 🚗 💡 Buy tickets on-site — the staff will provide a museum map and help you plan your tour. 💡 Don’t miss the 20-minute horse racing film 🎥. After the movie, a guide will take you into the famous racetrack (you can’t enter alone). 💡 After the track tour, go visit two retired Derby horses: Classic Smile and Ari 😍. Smile is the tall one, born in 1998 — his last race was in 2002. Now he enjoys retirement munching grass in the Derby stables 🐴🌾. 3️⃣ Waterfront Park This park offers a great view of two landmark bridges: Big Four Bridge George Rogers Clark Memorial Bridge 💡 Free parking available right next to the bridge. 4️⃣ Big Four Bridge 5️⃣ George Rogers Clark Memorial Bridge Iconic landmarks of Louisville. For the best photos, go to “Big Four Bridge Viewpoint” or the previously mentioned Waterfront Park 📸. #Kentucky #Louisville #TravelUSA #HorseRacing #Derby #VisitLouisville 🇺🇸
