Lyon - The Hometown of the Little Prince and Capital of Gastronomy 🌟

Lyon, the second-largest city in France, is known for its historic significance. Its uprisings were among the earliest armed worker revolts. In history class, we learned that Marx called it a turning point in the development of class struggle in France, laying the foundation for their theories. 📚 It's also a capital of gastronomy! You can have an eight-course meal at a Michelin-starred restaurant for less than a hundred euros, but be sure to book one to two months in advance. The Old Town is filled with highly-rated restaurants—most of the smaller ones require reservations, or you might miss out. The quality of dining here is top-notch; if a restaurant has good ratings, it's definitely worth a visit. We particularly loved Restaurant Café du Soleil. 🍽️ The art museums are also impressive, featuring works by Picasso, Monet, Renoir, Matisse, and Gauguin. We stayed for two nights, visiting churches and the famous murals around the city. 🎨 Kids will love the Little Prince boutique—both my wife and daughter are fans of the book. My daughter reads the French version and is the president of the Chinese Honor Society at her school. She bought a souvenir for her teacher there. The boutique also has a museum, though not related to the Little Prince. We spent over 30 euros but asked the owner if we could get a discount for buying more. They ended up refunding us the museum entry fee. The Old Town even has free public restrooms! 🛒 The Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière is quite spectacular. Parking is a bit of a gamble, but we got lucky and found a spot right at the entrance. On a clear day, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the city from the hill. 🕍 Having visited many cities in France, I've noticed that Louis Vuitton stores are usually only found in major cities. Even though Lyon is the second-largest, it only has one store in the most bustling downtown area, near the Printemps department store. The upside? The queue was very short—only two people ahead of me. The store manager was Chinese and provided great service. I bought a cashmere scarf and a gold necklace, which looked even better than my wedding ring from Cartier or the popular Van Cleef & Arpels. After tax refund, I saved about 25% to 30%, similar to Moncler, using Global Blue for an instant refund notification on my phone. 💼 #lyon #littleprince #offthetracktravel #europe #travel #roadtrip #lv #louisvuitton #gastronomy #lyon #france
