Lyon Dining | Carnivore's Delight and a Treasure Trove of Wines
Café Terroir is a local haunt that exudes warmth and character, and its adjacent Cave is a hidden gem. With over 1500 varieties of wine, the underground cellar is a sight to behold, filled with an impressive collection. It even features a long table for wine tasting or dining amidst the cellar's ambiance. 🍷 I booked a table at Café Terroir a week in advance for a 7:30 PM dinner. As soon as I opened the door, the place was buzzing with lively chatter. The late autumn menu, still rich in local meat specialties like roasted pork with pistachio ham, Bresse roast chicken, or steak, all sourced from farms or farmers the restaurant has trusted for years. 🍖 I asked the waiter to select a smaller portion of meat, but when the beef short rib arrived, I was taken aback by its generous size. 🤔 For meat lovers, it was pure bliss. The medium-rare steak was a perfect pink, with a creamy and sweet flavor that was incredibly smooth. The center had a texture reminiscent of tuna. 🥩 The wine list was even more impressive than the food. I ordered two glasses, and they only confirmed my thoughts. The Bonnard sparkling wine, a Chardonnay-Roussette blend from the Bugey region between Savoie and Rhône, established in 1988, is grown on a 70-degree slope in Montagnieu using biodynamic methods. It was precise, vibrant, and energetic, with lively citrus, almond, and floral notes in the finish. I searched many cellars afterward but couldn't find this wine again—it remains a fond memory. 🥂 After a satisfying meal, my feet had other plans. I turned right and ended up in Terroir Cave. The Pinot Noir from Saint-Pierre Arbois was more serious compared to Cras l'Équilibriste. For a great vintage like 2020, it was worth the wait, but I didn't expect it to fully open up until the third or fourth day. 🍇 If this place were in Paris, I'd definitely be a regular, digging into their wine collection. 🕵️♂️ #France #FrenchCuisine #Lyon #GlobalFoodieSquad #FoodieUniverse #Steak #HealedByFood #MarionEats #MyFoodieBFF
