Lyon Food Guide | Paul Bocuse Market ● Seafood Sashimi Platter
A food adventure at the famous Paul Bocuse Market! Check the last few pics for the shop name, menu, and receipt—I paid €53.19 in total. They have pre-set seafood platters, but I customized my order with these: Half a dozen No.2 Oysters (6 pcs) – French oysters, €15 1 portion Dog Cockle (12 pcs) – European cockles, €12.79 1 Clam from Normandie – Norman clam, €5.75 1 Sea Urchin – €4.75 1 portion Brown Shrimp – €9.9 (highly recommended) Highlights The brown shrimp stole the show! Around 70% of them had roe—sweet and briny, a delicious new seafood discovery 🦐 Next, the European cockles offered the best value. Each was super fresh, no fishy taste, with firm, sweet flesh. Way better than the marinated seafood I had in Barcelona (where <10 pcs cost €18!) 👏 The Norman clam is worth a try if you haven’t had it. It’s noticeably larger than the European cockle, with tight, aromatic meat (pale pink/purple inside, no yellow roe) 🌊 Honorable Mentions The sea urchin was decent but not super plump—hit or miss, so feel free to skip it to save room for other dishes 🐚 You can walk down from Fourvière to the old town, a charming area with lots of murals and some pixelated small tiles on different walls. My partner and I spent days looking up at them, feeling like we were on a treasure hunt~ Of the oysters, 2 had a strong fishy taste, but the other 4 were fresh with a nice lingering sweetness. That said, Ireland’s Carlingford oysters are just as good—no need to fixate on French ones. Focus on shellfish you don’t get often in Ireland! 🦪 #PaulBocuse #BocuseMarket #Lyon #LyonFood #SeafoodSashimi #EuropeanCockle #Normandy #NormandyClam #SeaUrchin #Oysters #FrenchOysters #BrownShrimp #FoodGuide #Delicious #SeafoodLovers
