Malaga đŞđ¸ Caminito del Rey, the King's Walk
đśâď¸ Caminito del Rey: MĂĄlagaâs Thrilling HikeâA Royal Adventure in the Cliffs Just a 1-hour drive from MĂĄlaga, Caminito del Rey (the âKingâs Pathâ) is a hit with locals and travelers alike. This iconic trail has a surprising backstory: it was originally built as a passage for hydroelectric workers to transport materials, clinging to sheer cliff faces. Today, you can still spot remnants of the old path, but the renovated version comes with safety railings and steel frameworksâthrilling, but secure. đ đ Getting There: A Little Trek to the Start There are a few ways to reach the trailhead, but we drove to Parking Mirador, then walked through a tunnel and trekked for about 20 minutes to the entrance. Pro tip: Wear comfy shoesâthose pre-trail steps are just the warm-up! đ đ§âď¸ What to Expect on the Hike Gear Up: Guides hand out headphones (for commentary), hair nets, and helmetsâsafety first! đ§ No Rest Stops: No bathrooms on the trail, so take care of business at the entrance. Trust us on this! đť Easy Peasy: The 5â6 km hike is beginner-friendly, taking around 2 hours. Perfect for casual hikers. Learn Along the Way: Guides share fascinating storiesâfrom the trailâs industrial history to local plants and geology. Itâs as educational as it is scenic! đż đ The âEndless 400 Metersâ Exit Finishing the trail? Youâll need to take a shuttle bus down. But hereâs the fun part: Signs keep saying â400 meters to the shuttleââand youâll see that sign again and again (and again). After what feels like a million âlast 400 meters,â youâll finally reach the bus. All in all, expect 20â30 minutes of walking to/from the entrance and exit. đ Cliffs, history, and easy hikingâthis spot is a must for anyone near MĂĄlaga. Just donât trust those â400 metersâ signs. đ #CaminitoDelRey #SpainTravel #travel #HikingTrails #Malaga #HikingAdventures
