Manhattan World Trade Center Transportation Hub 🚇
🎢🌿This building, named Oculus, is one of the many structures built as part of New York City’s reconstruction plan for the World Trade Center following the 9/11 attacks. 🌇 The Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, inspired by a bird in flight, designed it to resemble a dove released from a child’s hand. However, people often refer to it as the “Eye.” 😊 🎢🌿This name comes from the row of skylights on the roof ridge. Oculus means “eye” in Latin. The angle of the skylights is specially designed so that every year on the anniversary of the attack, sunlight directly passes through them, illuminating the main hall at 10:28 AM. Thus, this row of skylights is called the “Path of Light.” 🌟 This building is the world’s most expensive transportation hub, with a reconstruction cost of $3.74 billion. 🌺🌟 Although the complex design led to several construction delays, it has now become a popular spot for visitors to the World Trade Center site. 🌐 #DesignInspiration #ArchitecturalDesign #Modernism 🌊🌸
