Meat lovers will never miss it!
Florence is a place where you just have to enjoy a T-bone steak to break the routine of daily pasta and pizza—both carb-heavy foods. 🍽️ Ristorante La Grotta Toscana 📍 Via dell'Oche, 16R, 50122 Firenze FI, Italy 💰 Average cost per person: €30-50. Book in advance through The Fork for a 50% discount (excluding beverages). Steaks that cost €7-8 per 100 grams can bring tears to the eyes of poor students, but with a 50% discount, it's a whole different story! Time to eat—and eat a lot! - Chianina : €9.5 per 100g, starting from 1.4kg. The best choice for T-bone steak. This Italian breed is the largest in the world, known for its tender meat. - Scottona : €7 per 100g, starting from 1.2kg. Meat from a 16-22-month-old heifer that has not given birth. It's tender and fattier compared to Chianina. - Manzo bovino : €6.2 per 100g, starting from 1.2kg. Meat from a 1-4-year-old bull, the most common type of beef cattle. Considering the portion size and price, my friend and I (both girls) ordered a 1.2kg Scottona, cooked to medium doneness. We also went with the roasted potatoes and white wine recommended by our enthusiastic waiter (the wine waiter would first pour a little for you to taste and choose from). 👨🍳 Before cooking, the chef would bring the steak to the table to show us. It was very fresh and indeed quite fatty. 🥩 The outer layer of the beef was chewy, while the inner, bloody part was incredibly smooth, almost like jelly. The combination was fantastic! Scottona has a good amount of fat, which pairs well with the lean meat for a very flavorful experience. However, we did leave a few pieces of pure fat behind. The meat we carefully scraped off the bone at the end was the most delicious! The roasted potatoes seemed ordinary at first glance, but they had a magical effect of instantly cutting through the richness of the beef. Paired with the refreshing white wine, it was truly delightful! #MeatLovers #Steak #ItalyTravel #Florence #FlorenceCuisine #ItalianFood #EuropeTravel #Italy
