Medellín: A Brave Adventure in Colombia🇨🇴(1)

Medellín, the second-largest city in Colombia, was once infamous for violence, drug trafficking, and murder in the 1980s and 1990s. It was known as the most dangerous city in the world, where the notorious drug lord Pablo Escobar (the real-life inspiration for the TV series "Narcos") held sway. Today, Medellín has transformed from a city of violence into a globally recognized innovative hub and one of the most popular cities for digital nomads in Latin America! Ironically, Pablo remains the city's most famous tourist attraction, with his image and fridge magnets everywhere! 🕵️‍♂️ During a taxi ride in Medellín, I met a driver who spoke fluent English. After some small talk, he asked why I came to Colombia🇨🇴. I joked that it was because of "Pablo." He paused for a moment and shared a story: One of his childhood friends had been a henchman for Pablo Escobar. He didn't know until a week after Escobar's death when his friend was also killed. It was only then, from the news🗞️, that he learned his friend had been involved in drug trafficking. 😔 #Colombia #South America
