Memphis Food Exploration 1 🍴✨
Just moved to Memphis recently, so I decided to explore the city a bit. Today, I visited Beale Street— it feels pretty cool! Like a toned-down version of Nashville 😄. There were a lot of police around, haha, but having lived in Baltimore before, Memphis doesn’t feel as dangerous as I expected. Came across a sign about Chinese immigrants—super interesting! 🪧 During the era of racial segregation, Chinese people ran grocery stores serving Black communities, which was a meaningful contribution 👏🏽. Also spotted some quirky restaurants along the way—there was even one called "Irish Goat" 🐐. Tried Dock Off 5th—such a fun restaurant! It reminded me of those cute little eateries in Cambridge 😊. The Dock’s Sliders were delicious, and the honey chicken sandwich was great too 🍯🍗! But I made the mistake of ordering the "Seafood Heaven," and I couldn’t even find a trace of lobster 🦞😅. Lesson learned: at a fancy place, stick to fancy food—skip the fried rice! #Memphis #FoodDiary #BealeStreet #ChineseHistory #SouthernEats
