Michigan | This East African cuisine 🇧🇮 restaurant is so fragrant!!!

Baobab Fare | Detroit’s Hidden Gem by Burundian Refugees – So Tasty for Chinese Palates! 📍 Baobab Fare, Detroit Founded by Burundian refugees, this spot opened in Detroit’s Midtown back in 2021—and guess what? Its dishes fit Chinese taste buds so well! A total surprise and delight 😋 TAMU Such a cute green pudding made with avocado and passion fruit! Topped with chia seeds, the texture is super creamy, and most of the sweetness comes straight from the fruits—no cloying added sugar. It’s light, fresh, and the perfect way to start or end a meal 🥑✨ MBUZI STORM RECOMMENDATION! 🚨 This slow-roasted goat leg is incredible— the meat is tender and fall-off-the-bone, with zero gamey taste (a total win for goat newbies!). Served with corn salad, fried plantains, and stewed black-eyed peas, every bite is hearty and full of flavor. You can tell it’s cooked with care—definitely the star of the table 🐐 SAMAKI The fried fish is so crispy! Served with a rich sautéed onion topping, I loved that it’s a fillet (no messy bones!). Even though it’s fried, it doesn’t feel greasy at all—crunchy on the outside, flaky on the inside. Simply put: delicious, and I could eat more of it 🐟 NYUMBANI This slow-cooked beef is supposed to be their signature dish, so we got it as a side. The flavor is similar to tomato-braised beef shank, but it’s served as one huge chunk—kinda awkward to eat at first! Eaten alone, it’s a bit too salty, but mix it with the sauce and rice? Chef’s kiss. The saltiness balances out, and it becomes super satisfying 🥩 African Coffee Heads up: the ginger and cinnamon flavors here are really strong! If you’re not a fan of bold, spiced coffee, skip this one. It’s an acquired taste for sure ☕️ #100RestaurantChallenge #MichiganFood #MichiganLife #DetroitEats #UniversityOfMichiganAnnArbor #AfricanCuisine #FoodieAdventures #LivePhoto
