Momo Bistro – Classic Taiwanese Home-Style Cuisine 🍚🍆
Satay Beef Fried Rice I didn’t snap a photo, but this was the star of the meal—I’d come back just for this! Stir-fried rice with tender beef and water spinach, perfectly seasoned and not greasy at all. 🥢🔥 Basil Eggplant A lunch special featuring eggplant stir-fried with basil. It was my first time trying this combo—didn’t notice much basil aroma enhancing the eggplant, but I still enjoyed it since making eggplant at home is such a hassle (no high heat, no generous oil = not as tasty!). 🍆🌿 Canned Braised Pork Jar Looked gorgeous in the photo—shiitake mushrooms, bamboo shoots, and tofu skin with stewed pork belly. But when it arrived… it had a strong, off-putting smell. The canned meat was overly rich—one bite was enough. The tofu skin and bamboo shoots lacked flavor too. Not what I expected from the picture. 🥫😣 Oysters with Fermented Black Beans Likely made with canned oysters, stir-fried with basil and served over blanched bean sprouts. If they used fresh oysters, it could’ve been great—but the canned ones were too fishy for me. My friend loved it, though. 🦪🧄 HeySong Sarsaparilla Thanks to my friend, I tried the worst drink of my life—strong notes of medicinal plaster, both in smell and taste. 🤢🥤 Overall, Momo Bistro left me a bit disappointed. It’s always busy whenever I pass by, so I had high hopes. But today’s order was a miss—everything felt a bit too heavy and oily. 💔 📍 Momo Bistro 941 W Duarte Rd, Monrovia, CA 91016 💬 What’s your favorite Taiwanese dish in the LA area?
