Monterey Park’s Northeast Chinese Cuisine—You Are My Hero! 🥟🍖

Honestly, as someone who grew up in Northern China, I’ve been pretty disappointed with Northern-style restaurants in LA. Northeastern dishes were my childhood favorites, but most places here just don’t get them right. Even that hyped-up “big restaurant” in Rowland Heights was bland and boring… Until last weekend, when I went back to my mom’s place and tried this low-key Northeastern spot in Monterey Park for the first time—and wow, it blew me away! 🤩 The dishes weren’t the usual “dark, sticky, mushy” mess. The Sautéed Pork with Eggplant was amazing—the eggplant wasn’t stewed into a soggy leftover-like texture. Instead, it was neatly sliced, lightly fried till crispy outside and sweet inside, then stir-fried with tender pork chunks. 🍆🔥 The Smoked Chicken Skeleton with Onion was full of flavor—savory and aromatic! And the handmade pancakes were the real star—soft, chewy, and totally authentic. The Soy-Braised Pork Bones were solid—huge portion for just $8.99 (I’d already eaten a few pieces before remembering to take a photo 📸). Luckily, we ordered just before a big crowd showed up—good thing we arrived early! 😅 Promise me—if you’re in Monterey Park, give this place a try. Don’t let it go out of business! Please take good care of it when I’m not around—you won’t be disappointed! 🙏💖 Have you tried this spot? What’s your go-to Northeastern Chinese restaurant in the SGV?
