🍜 Montreal | A Creative Vietnamese Fusion Restaurant Worth Trying
On our way back from Mont-Tremblant, we finally checked out this Vietnamese fusion spot that’s been on our list forever! (My partner had been before with friends and tried most of the menu, so this time we focused on small plates—and they were a hit!) 🥗 Green Papaya & Beef Salad The beef is the star! Sweet and spicy (the heat sneaks up on you!), with a texture somewhere between yak jerky and Sichuan "lantern beef." It looks dry but stays juicy inside, and paired with tangy papaya, it’s the perfect appetizer. 🍗 Fish Sauce Chicken Wings The skin is crisp yet glazed, with a burst of flavor in every bite. The mid-joint pieces are extra crunchy, and the sweet-savory fish sauce glaze is irresistible. 🦑 Grilled Squid Charred, smoky, and perfectly chewy—so good it doesn’t even need dipping sauce! 🥚 Fried Quail Eggs (Oops!) We meant to order skewered quail eggs but got a full plate instead. The batter was too thick, and the overly sweet-sour sauce overwhelmed the dish. Not my favorite. 🍲 Pho & Fried Rice The broth was rich and flavorful, but the noodles were firmer than I prefer. The fried rice had generous toppings but was a bit soggy, with a strong pork-lard aroma from the sausage. 💬 Final Thoughts: A great spot for creative small plates, though the mains were just okay. Worth a visit if you're nearby, but maybe not a destination detour. 📍 123 Dzo Vietnamese Restaurant & Bar 2121 Boul. le Carrefour, Laval, QC H7S 2J7 #HiddenGems #MontrealEats #VietnameseFusion #FoodieFinds #GlobalEats #CanadaDining
