Montreal-Gaspé——Food Chapter Four: La suite des saveurs
We arrived near Quebec City around 8:00 PM, and found this spot in a small town below Lévis. It had a 5.0 rating on Google and was still open—what luck! We were the only table there that night, though. 🕣 Check out some of the menu items below! 📋 First up, the Soup de jour (soup of the day): It was a regular vegetable soup, similar to borscht. Nothing fancy, just comforting. 🥣 Then the Bisque de crevette gaspésie (Gaspésie shrimp bisque): Okay, let’s be real—it looked nothing like the pictures (total food photo scam! 😂). But it had a strong shrimp flavor, like it was simmered with shrimp heads, so that was a win. Next, the Couscous Jarret D’agneau (lamb shank couscous): There was a huge lamb shank, and the meat was tender—no gamey taste, which is good. But it was pretty bland. Underneath was a pile of couscous with a soft, fluffy texture. The portion was massive, but the flavor got monotonous after a while. 🐑 The Poulet à la kievien (chicken Kiev set) was your standard stuffed chicken cutlet with oozing filling, served with a creamy sauce and veggies. Just… average. 🍗 Côtes levées (rib set) tasted like typical sweet BBQ ribs, with the usual texture. The cheesy potatoes on the side were a bit undercooked in the middle, though. Meh. 🥩 For desserts: Tiramisu: Tasted like the kind you get at Costco—no real layers or depth. ☕ Molten chocolate cake: Warm chocolate cake with ice cream, not too sweet. Definitely recommend this one! 🍫 Overall, this place felt on par with St-Hubert (a casual Canadian chain). That 5.0 rating is way too high—there’s no need to make a special trip here. #MontrealToGaspe #FoodDiary #QuebecEats
