Mori Nozomi 🌟 New One-Michelin-Star Sushi… Slightly Disappointing 💣

This Japanese restaurant just earned its first Michelin star this year. It was my first time encountering a female sushi chef from Japan — so captivating! I went with high expectations! ✨ The overall atmosphere and service were quite good, but the food left me a little disappointed. Some flavors just weren’t to my taste. Though the portions were generous with a full 25 courses, only about a third truly stood out. Loved These Dishes 💕: • Cold Somen Noodles 🍜 • Bluefin Tuna 🐟 • Aburi O-Toro 🔥 • Baby Snapper Fish (a bit bony and salty, but tasty!) • Hokkaido Shirawara Salmon • Belt Fish & Corn Shoot Tempura 🌽 • Nodoguro (Blackthroat Sea Perch) • Plum Wine Sorbet 🍧 • Kyoto Matcha & Wagashi 🍵 Not So Great 💣: • Anglerfish Liver: Too soft, too sweet, lacking texture. • Hokkaido Scallop: Had a strange aftertaste. • Hokkaido Uni: Surprisingly bitter. • Kegani Ankake: A thick porridge-like dish with Hokkaido crab and caviar — couldn’t taste the crab, just a gloopy texture. • Starry Eel: Too mushy, with very mild eel flavor. Although it’s a Michelin-starred restaurant, I feel there’s room for improvement! If you have super high expectations for Michelin dining, you might find this a bit underwhelming. But if you’re curious about a female chef’s artistry, it’s still worth a try. By the way, Shunji 🍣 nearby also offers 20+ courses and is much more delicious in comparison! 💰 Omakase: $280 per person Have you been to Mori Nozomi?
