Mushroom Hunting in LA: A Magical Day in Nature πβ¨
This March, I went mushroom spotting β and just this November, I returned to Topanga for another fungi-filled adventure! This time, we found all kinds of boletes: liver bolete, satanβs bolete, and the gorgeous white king bolete. They were hiding beneath dry, earth-toned leaves, but our mushroom guide spotted them like a pro β what an eye! π We hiked through the hills while learning about symbiotic relationships in nature π. Our guide even showed us ancient spiders and crystal-filled rocks β turning every stone felt like uncovering hidden treasure π. The best part? A longer, cozier mushroom cooking session than last time! We tasted freshly picked liver bolete, enjoyed several rounds of mushroom rice bowls, and sipped on delicious morel mushroom soup. Pure happiness in a bowl π𧑠I went solo both times β and both times, I met the sweetest, most kind-hearted people. Grateful for the friendships nature helped blossom! πΌ Before the tour, I finally visited the famous CafΓ© on 27. The atmosphere was lovely, the food was decent, but the real joy was meeting the cafΓ© cat! π± The staff shared that this 4-year-old sweetie loves waiting by the door for pets β though my amateur cuddles might have sent him trotting away too soon (oops! π₯Ή). We wrapped up the day with a stop at La La Land Cafe in Calabasas β and wow, was I surprised to spot their collab drink with Lululemon! Only in a city like LA π. As an OC resident, Iβll always make the drive for good food and unique sips. All in all β a truly fulfilling and magical day! #MushroomSeason #LAHikes #ForagingFun #NatureLA #TopangaAdventures #CaliforniaWeekend
