Must-Eat in Dallas & Fort Worth Trave
Must-Eat in Dallas & Fort Worth Travel | Texas BBQ 🍖🔥 I only stayed in Dallas briefly for two days and had to head to Fort Worth, so I mostly stuck around downtown Dallas 🏙️. Though I knew the more highly-recommended BBQ spots in Dallas are Hutchin's and Hurtado, distance made me weigh my options—and I ended up choosing Terry Black's~ ⭐ Terry Black's comes from the Texas BBQ family—the Black's BBQ legacy, started in 1932, a legend from the BBQ holy land of Lockhart, Texas 🏆! ⭐ When it comes to Texas BBQ, the signature is low and slow (225–250°F for 12–14 hours) ⏳, plus wood-smoking. The Central Texas style found in Dallas, Houston, and Austin uses post oak for smoking, with minimal seasoning—just a Texas-style rub (basically salt and pepper)—emphasizing the meat's natural flavor and smokiness 🌳🧂. ⭐ At Terry Black's, the meat is sold by weight on butcher paper, served with slices of white bread, pickles, onions, and BBQ sauce 🥒🧅🍞—very Texan vibes~ ⭐ That said, as a non-BBQ fanatic, I couldn't taste a huge difference 😅. I actually preferred the various sides and even felt the low-and-slow cooking rendered out a lot of the fat, leaving the meat a bit dry—what I really enjoyed was the smoky bark (crust). ⭐ If you order the beef short ribs, the meat feels juicier, but each rack weighs 1–2 lbs, so it’s better for groups 👥🍖. ⭐ If you're driving from Houston, you’ll pass a peach-themed shop and gas station 🍑⛽. Nearby is a 300-acre peach farm, with fresh peaches ripe from April to September, but the shop also sells all kinds of peach ice cream and peach coffee drinks 🍦☕. Anything made fresh is generous and reliable, very unique—don’t miss it! (Packaged goods are a bit pricey 💸) 📍 Addresses: Terry Black's Barbecue (multiple locations, flagship in Austin) 3025 Main St, Dallas, TX 75226 Cooper Farms Exit 198, 301 I-45, Fairfield, TX 75840 #Houston#Dallas#DallasLife#DallasFood#DallasFoodHunt#AroundDallas#FortWorth#FortWorthLife#HoustonFoodie
