Must-Try Non-Instagrammable Food in Florence
Both restaurants were recommended by my Florence Airbnb host! They have the seal of approval from local people, so of course, they were delicious! I was actually planning to go to the T-bone steak place recommended on Xiaohongshu! Trattoria dall'Oste Chianineria was fully booked! Now it seems it's not a must-visit after all. π Then the host mentioned that there are many tourists here, so many places require advance reservations. If you just pick a place randomly, you might end up with "Italian food not made by Italians." He mainly recommended two places to me, both of which are frequented by local Florentines and basically don't require reservations! β First restaurant: Osteria Dei Leoni π Overall impression: The bone-in steak was incredibly delicious! When I cut into the medium-rare steak, pink juices burst out! It felt like the best steak I've ever had in my life! I took a photo of my clean plate and sent it to the owner as a compliment, and he immediately replied: "Smart girl" hahaha! π Location: It's very close to the Uffizi Museum! Just a 2-minute walk! Check Google Maps for P8. π Dishes recommended: T-bone steak, squid cheese, and pasta. β Second restaurant: Alla Vecchia Bettola π Overall review: This restaurant has a history of over 100 years! And there's no English menu! It's mostly frequented by locals! It's basically a place for the locals! The most interesting thing is that the current owner of the restaurant is actually an elementary school classmate of our Airbnb host! The host even greeted the owner for us before we ordered, and the owner gave us a small discount at the end (but not much). π Location: It's near the Ponte Vecchio, about a 10-15 minute walk. Check Google Maps for π Dishes recommended: 1. The Airbnb host said the T-bone steak here is also very good, but we didn't order it, so we can't comment! (After all, we had it once at noon) 2. The house wine in the woven bag on the table, β¬5 for all you can drink, was really delicious. 3. Melon and ham: The balance of sweet and salty was perfect! Very good! 4. Tomato pasta: It was so delicious!! The other dishes we ordered were just okay. The pork chop was a bit undercooked. π βΌοΈ A little tip: The Airbnb host's name is Robert, and he is an elementary school classmate of the restaurant owner. If you go, you can try mentioning his name! Maybe you'll get a small discount too. π Tell me if there are any other good places! I'll definitely visit again next time! #TravelSupportPlan #100StoriesOnTheRoad #Florence #Food #HiddenFoodieSpots #FlorenceCuisine #TboneSteak #GlobalEatingSquad #IrresistibleExoticFood #ForeignFoodLovers #ItalianCuisine #FoodKnowsNoBoundaries #AuthenticFoodOnTheRoad #UnforgettableDishes #WorldCapitalOfFood
