My First Hot Pot in the US β Very Authentic Xiao Long Kan π²
First day in the U.S. β lots to do, lots to adjust to. Staying in Alhambra, LA β lots of Chinese residents here, and plenty of Chinese restaurants on the streets. Spotted a Xiao Long Kan nearby, so it became my first meal in America. The U.S. really is an agricultural powerhouse β you can tell just from the hot pot ingredients. The beef and lamb quality is high, and portions are generous. The lamb shoulder was firm and full of flavor. The tender beef was incredibly soft β dipped in raw egg after cooking, extra delicious!ππ We ordered the vegetable platter β a huge plate with a great variety. The tripe, beef omasum, and pork aorta combo were all fresh and crispy.ππ Free snacks included chicken feet, seaweed strips, ice jelly, and white fungus dessert. Service-wise, itβs not quite like back home β servers mainly bring dishes and donβt hover around to change plates or clean up constantly.π Even so, when the bill came, we still left a $10 tip. Thatβs when it hit me β tipping culture is a real tradition here, even in Chinese restaurants. #LifeInTheUS #LosAngeles #HotPot #USTravel #America #XiaoLongKan #Lamb π₯©π₯¬π₯πΊπΈ
