My LA Camping Diary - Doheny State Beach 🏕️🌊
Just went camping again last weekend and decided to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival under the stars! 🌕✨ Let me share the details of our trip to Doheny State Beach. ⛺️ Doheny SB, South Loop (We stayed at a Regular site, unit 118) – located near the beautiful Dana Point. 💲 The price was around $58 per night after tax. Our site was pretty spacious—it could fit about three 3-person tents and had parking for three vehicles. Let’s start with the pros! The premium campsites here are literally right on the sand, facing the ocean—but they’re super hard to book! 😅 Even with Campflare alerts, I could only snag a regular site. Still, our spot came with a picnic table and a fire ring, and it was just a short walk to the beach. 🚶♀️🏖️ The beach itself is great for surfing and paddle boarding, and even on a weekend, it wasn’t too crowded. There are plenty of restrooms around, and though they’re pretty basic, they do have shower facilities! 🚿 Also, dog-friendly—so bring your furry pals! 🐾❤️ On the downside, the campsites are pretty close together, so don’t expect a ton of privacy or shade. It gets really sunny from midday through the afternoon—bring that shade canopy! ☀️ And a big heads-up ⚠️: there’s an active train track right next to the campground. Trains pass by fairly often, and let me tell you—one super loud train blasted its horn in the middle of the night and jolted me right out of my dreams! 😳🚂 Overall, it’s a nice spot for a one-night stay, but if you can score a premium site, it’s absolutely worth it!
