My Recent Favorite Meal That’s Both Beautiful and Delicious
Honestly, many Bib Gourmand restaurants in Boston are all style and no substance... but the sister restaurants Oleana and Sarma I tried this week truly deliver, especially Oleana. I ordered nine dishes and not a single one missed—each was absolutely stunning ✨ Za'atar was fragrant and crispy, especially loved the date butter underneath! Falafel was also a standout. I always thought falafel was pretty similar everywhere, but after trying Oleana's, I realized I'd never had the real deal before 😅 Haloumi Cheese—the savory saltiness of grilled cheese paired with the warm sweetness of fig jam is a classic combo. Drizzled with ladolemono for a refreshing tang and balanced with crisp nuts—it’s a perfect blend of sweet, sour, salty, and savory. I’d love to recreate this at home! Arctic Char was grilled to perfection but came in a super tiny portion! We also ordered Fried Perch, which was larger and had a subtle curry-like flavor—also very tasty. Sultan’s Delight truly amazed me—slow-braised beef that literally melts in your mouth, paired with smoky eggplant purée. No wonder it’s called the Sultan’s delight 👑 Vermont Quail Kebab is a signature dish, no need to say more—almost every table orders it. The two desserts at the end elevated the whole experience—I’d even come back just for the dessert menu! Baked Alaska was refreshingly tangy and sweet, while the Apple Custard Börek was rich and creamy. Just looking at the photos makes my mouth water 🤤 Most dishes are tapas-sized, so if you don’t have a huge appetite, two dishes per person is just right, leaving room for dessert 😉 🏠 Oleana 📍 134 Hampshire St, Cambridge #food #BostonLife #BostonWeekend #BeautifulMeals #BostonStudy #BostonExploration
