My Top 2 Favorite Spots in Greensboro!

After staying in Greensboro for a while, I finally found two hidden gem restaurants that I could visit over and over again—Saigon and Hokkaido. Whenever I crave something delicious, these two are always my first choice! Let’s talk about Vietnamese food first~ Many people recommend Pho Hien Vuong when they come to GSO, but I think its taste is just so-so—only the Vietnamese coffee is worth a try ☕. The one I really rave about to everyone is the Thai hot pot at Saigon! The soup base is absolutely fantastic: rich but not greasy, with a unique Thai-style sour aroma, yet not as spicy as tom yum goong that burns your stomach. You can smell its amazing fragrance as soon as it boils~ 🔥 Hurry and add a bunch of fresh seafood; once the shrimp and mussels turn pink, take them out, and first ladle a bowl of soup—it’s so fresh that it’ll blow your mind! Moreover, each hot pot comes with a large plate of fresh vegetables and chewy rice noodles. Boil and eat as you go—it’s super satisfying without feeling guilty. Ordering one hot pot and one appetizer for two people is usually more than enough; we often end up stuffed with leftovers. The cost-effectiveness is off the charts 🦞! The grilled quail here is also a must-order! The outer skin is golden and crispy, but the meat inside is tender and juicy— I get it every time I visit. The sweet and sour chicken wings are good too, coated in a thick sauce with just the right balance of sweet and sour, making them super addictive to nibble on. However, there’s one thing to avoid: their Thai tea is way too sweet. One sip feels like your mouth is wrapped in sugar. If you’re not a fan of extreme sweetness, definitely skip it ❌! Let me also recommend Hokkaido! If you don’t know what to order, just ask Sally~ She’s Chinese, understands our taste preferences perfectly, and will recommend dishes based on what you like. You basically won’t go wrong with her suggestions! Every time I’m torn, following her advice never disappoints—whether it’s ramen or a set meal, I always leave full and satisfied, feeling as comfortable as eating at a friend’s house ~ 🍜 #LocalFavorites #SpringEats #NorthCarolina #Greensboro #InternationalStudents #Spring #ThaiCuisine #ThaiHotPot #NCFood #GreensboroNC #MyStudyAbroadLife #FoodExploration
