Nepal trip——lumbini

🔖 Mrs. Maya Temple - The Birthplace of Buddha 🍃 Entering the sacred garden, after a short walk along a shaded path, you'll see a white square building, the Mrs. Maya Temple, which marks the birthplace of Buddha. Before entering the compound, all visitors must remove their shoes and walk barefoot, or you can bring your own socks. Lumbini has a tropical climate, so it's advised not to enter the garden at noon when the ground can be scorching hot. 🔖 Ashoka Pillar - Proof of the Pilgrimage of Emperor Ashoka 🍃 "The beloved of the gods, King Piyadasi, visited Lumbini in the 20th year after his coronation and worshipped there." In 1896, the Ashoka Pillar was discovered by Nepalese official Khadka and renowned German archaeologist Fuhrer. The most precious part of the Ashoka Pillar is the ancient Brahmi script on its body, which contains Emperor Ashoka's edict. The content confirms that this place is indeed the birthplace of the Buddha and orders the carving and erection of a huge stone pillar, surrounded by stone railings. 🔖 Zhong Hua Chinese Buddhist Monastery 🍃 More than thirty countries around the world have committed to establishing Buddhist temples in Lumbini. Currently, there are 27 temples built by 15 countries in Lumbini. The Chinese Buddhist Monastery, or Zhong Hua Monastery, was established by China in response to the invitation from the Lumbini Development Committee and the World Fellowship of Buddhists, organized by the United Nations Development Programme, UNESCO, and the government of the Kingdom of Nepal. It is the first official Chinese temple abroad. Statues of Xuanzang and others stand at the temple entrance. In 635 AD, Xuanzang witnessed the Ashoka Pillar when he came to Lumbini to obtain scriptures. 🔖 Lumbini World Peace Pagoda 🍃 The Lumbini World Peace Pagoda is located in the northern part of the park, built by Japan, and stands 41 meters high. It requires a bike ride to get there. It was funded by Japanese Buddhists and bears a resemblance to the Peace Pagoda in Pokhara. The golden statues inside the white pagoda depict the posture of the Buddha at the time of his birth. #OffTheBeatenPathTravel #Nepal #NepalTravel #NepalPilgrimage #OutdoorClimbingHiking #Buddhism #BuddhistCulture #Lumbini #BirthplaceOfBuddha#Maya Devi Temple
