New Chinese Restaurant in Pasadena – Worth Trying Boldly!
While there are quite a few Chinese residents in Pasadena, compared to San Gabriel, Monterey Park, or Arcadia, the number of Chinese restaurants is still limited. Even though those cities aren’t far away, having a few good Chinese spots right in Pasadena is much more convenient. I gave this place a try — the food was tasty, though I didn’t take many photos this time. Next visit I’ll grab more content to share!💕❤️ This restaurant was also recommended on Xiaohongshu. Interestingly, I visited once last year when it was still a Western-style eatery.😒🙌 The name is still the same: Colette on Yelp, but the menu has completely switched to Chinese cuisine with a fusion twist. The interior decor and tableware now carry a stylish Chinese aesthetic. We were just two people, so we ordered three dishes. I expected large plates with small portions, but surprisingly, the servings were quite generous. 🍚 Truffle Beef Fried Rice – Delicious! A must-order. Even my picky partner couldn’t stop praising it. The rice was perfectly separated, not too dry or wet, with a subtle wok aroma, and the truffle elevated the flavor to another level. 🍛 Beef Brisket Curry – Tasty and perfect with rice! We usually buy Japanese curry blocks from Asian markets to make at home or go to Coco Ichibanya in Koreatown, but Japanese curry rarely uses beef brisket. Maybe it’s been a while since we had beef curry, but this one tasted especially good — rich curry flavor and tender, well-braised brisket. 🥗 Truffle Chicken Salad – Just okay; I probably wouldn’t order it again. For cold chicken dishes, I prefer something like kou shui ji (mouthwatering chicken). Of course, this seems to be more of a Cantonese-style restaurant, so it’s not their fault — just personal preference. The salad had a creamy, slightly cheesy taste that didn’t quite hit the spot for me. Verdict: Definitely worth a bold try! #LARestaurants #LAWeekend #FoodReview #WhatToEat 🍚🥢✨
