🌵 New Mexico Food Hits & Misses | So Many Surprises!

Just got back from a spring break trip to New Mexico – here’s my food recap! Albuquerque ✅ Monica's El Portal A traditional Mexican spot loved by locals. The owner is a sweet grandma! My boyfriend enjoyed it, but Mexican food isn’t really my thing. Still, worth a try if you’re into authentic flavors. ✅ Sawmill Market A food hall with tons of options! Highlights: Roast chicken – huge portion, well-seasoned Burger – made with fresh steak patty Pancakes – fluffy and delicious in various flavors 🚫 Skip the pho and sushi here. ✅ Ten 3 📍 At the top of Sandia Peak – requires reservation & tram ticket! Perfect for sunset dinners with stunning views. Steak – surprisingly amazing Grilled oysters – fresh and flavorful Portions are huge – come hungry! Santa Fe ✅ La Boca Popular Spanish tapas spot! Must-tries: Mussels with bread – soaky and delicious Creamy mushroom dish – rich and comforting Paella – a bit salty, but the rice texture was great ✅ La Plazuela At La Fonda Located in a hotel – open to all! Beautiful setting. Corn soup – absolutely loved it Beef tacos – flavorful and tender ✅ Lotus Dumpling House A hidden gem! Their beef green chile pan-fried dumplings are UNREAL – juicy, slightly spicy, and uniquely New Mexican. Also loved the fish & cilantro wonton soup – so fresh! ✅ Tomasita's Santa Fe Recommended by a local cop! Expect a 40-min wait at peak times. Free sopapillas with honey butter – THE BEST THING EVER 🍯🤤 Authentic, affordable, and packed with locals ❌ Dumpling Tea Avoid! Their beef noodle soup, curry chicken noodles, and pork buns were all disappointments. ❌ Izanami Restaurant Inside Ten Thousand Waves Spa – overpriced and underwhelming. Not worth it! Taos ✅ ACEQ Restaurant A gem in a small town! Busy but worth it. Pasta – tasty but small portion Burger – juicy and well-made Bone marrow – rich and aromatic Berry cheesecake – THE BEST I’ve had in the US! Not baked, more like a mousse, and perfectly sweet. Loved it! 🍰❤️ New Mexico surprised me with its unique flavors and hidden culinary treasures!
