New Orleans Food Guide (Part 3) 🍽️🎄

The cover photo is The Roosevelt New Orleans — fully decked out in Christmas spirit! For this trip, I stayed at The Roosevelt and The Westin, both within walking distance of most attractions. Below are some restaurants I tried between sightseeing — reviews are subjective, but hope they help! 🌟 Zesty Creole On Canal Street with a Google rating of 4.7. We stopped here for brunch before a cruise — arrived at 9:30 AM and it filled up quickly! 🍤 Po’boy was our first (and only) of the trip — a generously loaded fried shrimp sandwich so packed we barely knew how to bite into it! The bread was crispy outside, soft inside, and the filling was hearty and flavorful. 🦐 Shrimp Creole was a bit too salty. 🦞 Crawfish Étouffée — crawfish weren’t in season (tiny but tasty), but the buttery, onion-celery sauce over rice was warm and comforting. 🍚 Not a fan of the rice texture here — wish it was sticky Northeast Chinese-style rice! 🌟 Cafe Beignet A breakfast spot near our Swamp Tour meeting point. 🍳 Jambalaya Omelet was underwhelming — not great as an omelet or as jambalaya. 🦞 Crawfish & Grits was delicious — spicy crawfish with cheesy grits, perfect for a cozy morning. 🍩 Beignets were overloaded with powdered sugar — not as crispy as Chinese fried dough, not as fluffy as donuts. Worth a try if you’ve never had them, but not a must. 🌟 The Original Pierre Maspero’s A French Quarter spot we wandered into when hungry. 🏛️ The building dates back to 1788 and was once a slave exchange — the interior has a strong vintage vibe. 🧀 Seafood Pistolettes stuffed with cheese, Gulf shrimp, and crawfish were rich and tasty but got salty and heavy after a few bites. 🍤 Seafood Combo & Sampler were regret orders — fried items were average, only two items in the sampler were good. Felt a bit fooled… until we saw a long line outside after eating! Maybe we just ordered wrong. 😅 🌟 Maïs Arepas Found this on Google Maps because the name intrigued me! 🇨🇴 Colombian cuisine — arepas are cornmeal cakes stuffed with various meats. 🥟 Mini Arepas Sampler — the pork one was the best. 🍖 Pork Ribs looked like American BBQ but tasted different — tangy and savory. A nice change after days of Cajun/Creole food, though it can also get rich after a while. #NewOrleans #NewOrleansEats #NewOrleansTravel #FoodGuide 🎭🍛✨
