New Orleans Food Journeyš®
š¬ A Quick Note on Spring Travel š¬ Iāve dreamed of visiting New Orleans for yearsāall because Iām obsessed with Cajun, Creole, and Southern cuisine! Given the limited space, and since this account mainly focuses on food, I wonāt dive into the awesome non-food parts of my trip here. Letās jump straight to the eats! š The Market Cafe Kicked off the day with a bold cocktail and a shrimp poāboy sandwichābut fair warning: do NOT start a hot day with hard liquor š ! Later, I spent hours walking and sweating in the sun, and I felt so miserable I thought Iād barely make it through the day. The food was good, but the morning drink choice? Total regret! š Nawlins Cajun Tried their alligator sausag here! It had a unique, slightly gamey flavor (but not overpowering) and a firm textureāfun to sample for that āauthentic NOLAā experience š. š Lorettaās Multiple locals told me their beignets are even better than the famous Cafe du Mondeāand they were right! I ordered two flavors: praline (sweet, nutty, and rich) and savory crab (my favorite!). Is there anyone else whoās obsessed with savory snacks like me? These were so goodā10/10 recommend š©·! š Central Grocery This is the original spot that invented the muffulettaāa classic New Orleans sandwich. Honestly, it was just okay for me. It didnāt hold a candle to the Italian cold cuts we get on the East Coast (I have a go-to spot in BostonāIāll talk about that another time)! š Tableau Part of the famous Brennan family of restaurants (known for iconic Creole food). We tried French bread dipped in gumbo hereāthe bread was crusty on the outside, soft on the inside, and paired perfectly with the rich, hearty gumbo. One of my friends is a total bread loverāshe couldnāt stop eating it! I heard all the French bread in the city comes from just two bakeries, so no matter which restaurant you go to, the bread should taste pretty consistent. š Natchez Steamboat Had a buffet dinner on this steamboat, with beautiful sunset views over the Mississippi River š. The standout was the bread puddingāwarm, sweet, and topped with a rich sauce. So comforting and delicious š! š The World-Famous Cafe du Monde Letās be realāCafe du Monde is the first thing anyone thinks of when they hear āNew Orleansā! You have to try their beignets with coffee ā. The beignets were as good as I expected, but what really won me over was the cafe au laitācreamy, smooth, and the perfect balance of coffee and milk. Iām still craving it now š©·! #Travel #OffTheBeatenPathTravel #NewOrleans #NewOrleansFood #NewOrleansTravel #NewOrleansTravelHealthGuidelines
