New Orleans Simple Guide – Food Edition 🍽️
When you come to New Orleans, you basically eat oysters every day 🦪. I tried different oysters daily and found that hitting up happy hour is the best way to enjoy them without breaking the bank! Most restaurants require reservations, so be sure to book on Yelp in advance. While many spots weren’t mind-blowing, this trip was truly all about eating — after all, there isn’t much else to do here 😅. Luke 🦪 Happy hour oysters are absolutely amazing! This place is perfect for oyster lovers — just go all in! ⏰ 3–6 pm Willie‘s Chicken Shack 🍗 So good! Their fried chicken wings are a must-try — I ended up eating there twice! 😋 Cajun Seafood 🍤 The flavor is decent, but the seafood isn’t very fresh and the cleanliness is questionable. If you still want to try it, make sure to set your Uber destination to the Claiborne location. We initially went to another spot that felt unsafe — deserted, with flies and broken glass everywhere 🚫. Peche 🦪 The seafood platter is a must-order! Other dishes didn’t leave a strong impression, but overall the restaurant has a nice ambiance and the food is tasty — a safe choice ✅. Drip Affogato Bar 🍨 Had delicious gelato here, but Google now says it’s permanently closed 😢. Cochon 🥓 Known for their pork ribs and alligator meat — worth a try but not extraordinary. The fried alligator was interesting but got a bit heavy after a while. The Ruby Slipper Cafe 🥞 For brunch, this place is all you need! Tasty, generous portions. You can join the waitlist online ahead of time ⏳. Seaworthy 🦪 Not as good as some bloggers claim — overpriced with small portions. Not recommended 👎. Creole House Restaurant Just walk past this one, okay? 🚷 Saw a long line, waited forever, and the food was terrible! Avoid at all costs. Maison de la Luz 🧇 The hotel I mentioned earlier — their bar is super cool and worth visiting whether you’re staying there or not (there’s a separate entrance). The breakfast restaurant is pretty and photogenic, but the food is overpriced and mediocre. Go for photos, skip the meal 📸. Cafe du Monde 🥖 It’s okay — nothing extraordinarily delicious. You can always try it at the airport on your way out ✈️. Preservation Hall 🍸 Their cocktails are quite tasty, and the space is spacious. A nice spot to sit and relax with a drink in the afternoon 🥂. #Foodie #NewOrleans #EatNOLA #Oysters #TravelEats
