I searched my entire trip for a Hole in the Wall Seafood spot. I was a little hesitant when i found cajun seafood because it's multiple locations and typically the good hole in the walls only have one location. I was pleasantly surprised.
I ordered 1 pound of crawfish, 1 lb of shrimp, 1 lb of Dungeness crabs, shrimp fried rice and two brownies. Amazingly, my total was only $30 which was very surprising being that when I go to Savannah I don't get nearly as much food for $30.
There isn't much parking on the outside so you might have to wait in order to park or park on the street. There is quite a bit of traffic going in and out of the seafood spot but it is very spacious and plenty of seating. Because of the large influx of customers coming in and out, they do tend to rush you with your orders. That wasn't a good thing for me being that I was unable to tell what was on the hot bar prior to getting to the front. I need to see more than just a menu. I prefer to see the food too. Besides, the menu eas too far aways since there were so many customers. There are about four or five people taking orders and working something of an assembly line. They also have items that aren't cook which didn't have as many people purchasing.
The shrimp fried rice I ordered was everything! Probably one of the best I've ever had. The Crawfish was okay as well as the Dungeness but the shrimp was actually really really good. Can't...
Read moreI was recommended this place by a friend and reviews made it sound great. I’m not a local so I didn’t know everything was going to be spicy. The only thing on the menu that said “spicy” was the crawfish so I got shrimp and crab legs for my 7 and 9 year old and my 7y/o can handle heat and even she was struggling. My 9 year old was literally crying tears saying her lips hurt and she gave up after 1 crab leg and 2 shrimp. I love spicy food but even I couldn’t enjoy it because it was just that hot. My nose was running, lips were on fire, I had to breathe dramatically to try and cool my mouth off. I don’t see how the regulars do it. My mom tasted 1 shrimp and said no way. Shrimp was also overcooked (chewy), and wasn’t even all that hot (steamy) when we got it so that didn’t make sense. I only struggled through and finished the food because I didn’t want to waste my $45. Never again. The girl behind the counter was so deep in her phone even when we walked up, no eye contact or greeting. My husband went up to get water and said she was complaining about having to work. Her phone was literally in her hand over the food the entire time we sat there and ate. We went through 9 bottles of water and only 5 of us ate. The guy at the counter was nice to give us 2 of...
Read moreWe have very good cajun seafood boil in Chicago, knowing it came from New Orleans, I am very excited to try out the cajun seafood boil when I am here in New Orleans, Our Uber driver recommend this place to us, we also checked out the reviews before we went there.
But we are very disappointed at the food, other than salty and spicy, there is not much other flavors, the seafood is also not very fresh. we got one pound dungeness crab, 1 pound shrimp, and 1 pound sauted crab, one pig feet, one sausage, and 1 turkey neck. Half of dungeness crab and half of the shrimp seems cooked on the same day, but half seems the leftover of the day before, you can tell from the color and the firmness of the meat. Sauted crab taste ok, but it is super messy , it is kind of sweet , with lots honey like layer outside of the crab. sausage taste good, but it is more fatty than sausage we ever tried elsewhere. pig feet was cooked in the same sauce of the shrimp, salty and spicy, no other taste.
I didn't rate it one star is because the price is very affordable, they also have lots of other options we didn't try, and the restaurant seems popular among the locals, we see lots locals come pick...
