New Year's Climb 🌋 Puy de Dôme

On the first day of 2025, I hopped on a little train 🚂 The snowy mountain 🏔️ I see from my window at home Is actually this very Puy de Dôme volcano 🌋, an active one! Located in the Auvergne volcanic range in central France, it boasts an 80,000-year history Comprising over 90 volcanic cones of various sizes The most famous is Puy de Dôme, standing at 1,465 meters 💎 In 2018, Puy de Dôme was officially listed as a UNESCO Natural Heritage site They’ve been dormant for over 8,000 years 💤 But volcanologists don’t rule out the possibility of an eruption someday 🚗 On the drive up the mountain 👧 Alva asked, “What if the volcano erupts today?” 👩 Her sister replied, “They’ve been asleep for 10,000 years. If it happens on our first visit, we’d be legendary. We’d basically be gods.” (HAHAHA kids say the darndest things 🤣) The first day of the new year was bathed in glorious sunshine ☀️ Here’s to a smooth and successful 2025 Most importantly, may family and friends stay safe and healthy 🙏 🧗 Route to the Summit Paris → Clermont-Ferrand � 5-6 hours by car ✈️ 1 hour by plane From downtown Clermont, there are shuttle buses to Puy de Dôme Driving is about 10 km, with parking available at the base You can hike up 🏃‍♀️ (approx. 2-3 hours) Or take the little train 🚂 (approx. 15 minutes) Adult tickets 🎫: One-way €14.40, Round-trip €17.20 (Journalists get a €2 discount) After taking the train, there’s a walking path to the summit At the top, you’ll see panoramic views of Clermont and the surrounding mountains In winter, there’s a small ice-skating rink ⛸️ In summer, paragliding 🪂 is available Different experiences for every season!
