New York State | Hudson Valley Ultra-Hidden Attractions and Food Collection
My third trip to New York State's Hudson Valley, I checked off some hidden attractions. The Hudson Valley is a 3-hour 20-minute drive from Boston 🚗 and a 2-hour drive from New York 🚗, making it an ideal short trip for autumn maple leaf viewing! (But the maple leaves this year were so lackluster!) What to do: 1️⃣ Walkway Over the Hudson - The world's longest pedestrian bridge 2️⃣ Culinary Institute of America - The best culinary school in North America (introduced in the previous post) 3️⃣ Vanderbilt Mansion - A luxurious mansion with autumn scenery on the hill, offering guided tours 4️⃣ Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt - The presidential residence, where we only visited the library and museum, which were very impressive! It describes the president's life and his four election victories in detail (p9, 10) 5️⃣ Chuang Yen Monastery - The most spiritually fulfilling temple in the Western Hemisphere with the largest indoor Buddha statue, offering vegetarian lunches at noon on weekends (p7, 8) with a beautiful environment that feels like a spiritual purification just by walking around 😇 6️⃣ The Russel Wright Design Center - An artistic house that blends nature with creativity, allowing people to enjoy the scenery from their homes, and you can join a tour to learn more about Russel's interesting stories in building the house (p1-4) 7️⃣ West Point Museum - The museum of the United States Military Academy 8️⃣ Wethersfield Estate & Garden 9️⃣ Dover Stone Church - A hidden treasure of a hiking spot with waterfalls and caves 🔟 Hudson Highlands State Park 1️⃣1️⃣ For wine lovers: Millbrook Vineyard, Brotherhood (the oldest winery), and Hudson Valley Brewery (craft beer) 🍻 Eat and drink 🍽️: 1️⃣ Any restaurant at the Culinary Institute of America! Make sure to book in advance. 2️⃣ Cosimo's - An Italian restaurant opened by a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, very delicious with large portions and affordable prices!! 3️⃣ I-84 Diner - A classic American diner for breakfast 4️⃣ The Arch - A high-rated French restaurant at the border of NY and CT, with amazing soufflés!
