Newport, Rhode Island | The Chillest Town on the East Coast đ
Last weekend, I visited Newport with my familyâand this hidden coastal town totally won us over! It blends historic charm with a laid-back vacation vibe perfectlyď˝ đ Must-Visit Itinerary đĄ The BreakersNewportâs most famous Gilded Age mansion, once the summer villa of the Vanderbilt family. The interior is opulently decorated with gold accents, while the exterior boasts sprawling lawns and ocean views đ°. There are many other mansions nearby, but theyâre quite similar in style. If you want to visit multiple ones, opt for a combo ticketâit even lets you bring one guest for free! Fun fact: The Vanderbilt patriarch only stayed in this summer home a few times. I previously visited the familyâs permanent residence, the Baltimore Estate in North Carolina, which was even more stunning. I couldnât help but wonderâwithout planes back then, how long did it take to travel from their permanent home to this vacation villa? 𤣠đ The Cliff WalkStretching 5.6 kilometers, you can walk a section based on your schedule. One side offers sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean, and the other is lined with wealthy familiesâ mansions. We didnât do the full routeâjust a short segmentâand found a spot where we could walk down to get closer to the sea (it was lovely!).đ żď¸ Parking: Near 40 Steps Newport đď¸ Newport TownThe town is filled with unique small shops, cozy cafĂŠs, and souvenir stores. If you love vintage items or niche accessories, youâre sure to find treasures here đď¸! We ate at Lukeâs Lobsterâwith a 4.9-star rating, it lived up to the hype: the lobster and crab were super fresh đ. Wandering around is delightful when the weather is nice, but parking is extremely hard! All the parking lots were full. Across the street, thereâs a raw bar with amazing oystersâunfortunately, we missed their half-price window (12â2 PM, only $1.5 each)! đ¤ On the edge of the town, thereâs a super chill harbor filled with yachts âľ. #NewportRhodeIsland #EastCoastTravel #GildedAgeMansions #CoastalTowns #USATravel
