🏯 Nijo Castle, Kyoto 📝

From 1603 until 1867, this was the main residence of the Tokugawa family in Kyoto. In 1867, the 15th Tokugawa Shogun, Tokugawa Yoshinobu, returned political power to the Emperor, an event known as the 👀 "Restoration of Imperial Rule," which took place at Nijo Castle. 🎎 Concurrent with the Restoration of Imperial Rule, the Tokugawa family also handed over Nijo Castle to the Emperor. In 1884, ✅ Nijo Castle was renamed as the Detached Palace and ✅ used as a villa for the Emperor.
