Nijo Castle in Kyoto - A World Heritage Site 🌿
Nijo Castle in Kyoto was my final stop in the city. 🌿 Before heading to Osaka, I was hesitant about visiting Nijo Castle, as it's not a popular destination among Chinese tourists. 🍃🌺 However, I'm glad I went. Even though photography is not allowed, the architecture of Nijo Castle and the informative guided tour truly helped me understand an entire era. The beginning and end of the Tokugawa Shogunate both took place in this legendary location, giving it a sense of completeness. 🏰 🌿 Nijo Castle is like a ukiyo-e scroll soaked in the passage of time, quietly spread out in the heart of the ancient capital. The vermilion and gold-foil-trimmed Tang Gate stands majestically, its eaves curving sharply like the cold gleam of a samurai sword. 🍃🌺 The gate is adorned with reliefs of coiled dragons and phoenixes, their scales and feathers exuding the ambition and splendor of the Edo period. 🌿 Pushing through this gate feels like stepping into the very folds of the Tokugawa Shogunate's power. 🌿 #Kyoto 🌿
