Ninen-zaka and Sanen-zaka ๐ฟ
Ninen-zaka and Sanen-zaka are two cobblestone paths connecting Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Yasaka Shrine, built in the third year of the Daidล era (808). ๐ธ๐ These architectural clusters preserve the Edo period's charm and are designated as traditional building preservation areas. ๐๐ฟ Sanen-zaka is named for its Japanese pronunciation, similar to "sanzan" (meaning "safe childbirth"), where ancient pregnant women would pray for a smooth delivery. Along the way, you'll find many traditional machiya townhouses and shops selling various handicrafts and souvenirs. ๐ธ๐ These two paths are famous for their steep stone steps and traditional machiya architecture. ๐๐ฟ The Starbucks teahouse on Ninen-zaka and the Meibutsu Yotei on Sanen-zaka are popular spots for photos. #Kyoto ๐๐
